Interdiction or harm-reduction – or even brute force? That’s what we ask ourselves in this week’s episode of Radio UF. As the prohibitionist approach – often referred to as the war on drugs – is nearing it’s sixties, alternative ways of handling the world’s drug problem are being advocated to an ever growing extent. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, president Rodrigo Duterte is waging a full-scale war on drugs in all it’s forms, ignoring the critism from the global society. To deepen our understanding of the subject, we talk to Robert DuPont, former Drug Czar of the White House and board member of the World Federation Against Drugs, Daniel Green, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada, as well as Jianne from the Philippines, who shares her personal view of her president. Want to get to know what the drug controversies are really about? Then this is definitely a good place to start.
