Vintage Party goes to Brazil – part one

From Baiao to Bossa Nova: Vintage Party will talk about the evolution of Brazillian music in the mid-twentieth century, from the establishment of Baiao rhythms as popular dance music in the 30s and 40s, through Carmen Miranda’s reign as queen of Samba and the meeting with American jazz that resulted in Bossa Nova and Brazillian jazz forms.

Listen Wednesday at 19 for the first in this two-part series. Next week we’ll take up where we left off in the 60s with MPB, Jovem Guarda and Tropicalia.
